Puzzles are a very good way of analysing chess positions. You know there is one very good move to be made -
if only you could just see it! The amount of time you take finding the answer to a chess puzzle is the
same time you should take for each move in a competitive game of chess. You should always be
looking for the clever move!
This is Ian's favourite chess puzzle: |

Most chess puzzle websites provide a button you can press to see the solution.
That is far too easy - you should think about the puzzle until you get the solution.
If you don't see the solution within a few minutes, try it out on someone else who knows about chess.
If you really can't get the answer send us an e-mail and we will send you back the answer!

Where would you get a mate in one move? You could try looking down the pub! |

There is no way for white to mate with one move. If you know something
that I don't, let me know..... ...LOL! That is a good puzzle! |

OK... So I looked and looked for the answer. I really don't see any way
White can mate in one move, unless this is a joke.... please let me know! ...Now it seems so easy! I can't believe I didn't see it! I showed the puzzle to two friends of mine. The weakest player got it IMMEDIATELY. And the strongest player is still searching for the answer to no avail. |

I don`t believe this! I`ve been staring that cursed puzzle for ages and nearly got sacked (they don`t really approve chess during working hours now do they?) Now it`s all I can think of, so please send THE answer. |

I really hope that this is a joke, because I honestly don't see any possible mate in one... So if there is an answer (which I am positive there isn't), please let me know and I'll commend you for the hardest chess puzzle I have ever seen. Interestingly enough, I don't even see a mate in two moves... curious. |
